The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is a global research center established in 1975, dedicated to agriculture and food systems. It aims to provide research-based policy solutions to sustainably reduce poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. As a Research Center of CGIAR, IFPRI is the only CGIAR center focused solely on food policy research.
IFPRI conducts multidisciplinary research on various topics, including agricultural economics, rural poverty, and women's empowerment. The institute supports evidence-based decision-making by providing capacity strengthening and policy communication to policymakers, NGOs, and development practitioners. With a vision of a world free from hunger and malnutrition, IFPRI engages in stakeholder collaboration to inform policies that promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and food systems. It produces a range of research outputs, including publications and policy briefs, and works with national governments, international agencies, and private sector stakeholders to influence food policy.
