The Directors Guild of America (DGA) is a leading entertainment guild that represents film and television directors and their teams in the U.S. and internationally. Established in 1936, the DGA has grown to include over 16,000 members, including assistant directors, production managers, and stage managers. The guild's mission is to protect the legal rights and creative interests of its members across various media formats, including television, documentaries, and commercials.

The DGA operates through eleven specialized departments that provide tailored support in areas such as contract negotiations, legal protections, and compliance with guild standards. It also hosts the prestigious DGA Awards, which recognize outstanding directorial achievements and are seen as a predictor for the Academy Awards. Additionally, the DGA offers a Producer Signatory Program, allowing producers to legally employ DGA members under guild contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and protections for its members.
