Avera Health is a regional, faith-based nonprofit health system based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It serves a vast area across South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota, operating over 300 locations in 100 communities and reaching nearly 1 million people. Founded in 2000 from the merger of two Catholic health care systems, Avera's mission is to promote wellness, reflecting its name derived from the Latin word "avere," meaning "to be well."
