Russell Roberts serves as the host of EconTalk and the President of Shalem College in Jerusalem, focusing on the intersection of economics, philosophy, and the human experience. As a Research Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, he bridges academic rigor with accessible discourse, most notably through his viral Keynes vs. Hayek rap anthems and his deep-dive book How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life. His long-form interview style creates space for exploring emergent order and the limitations of data-driven modeling in favor of what he describes as wild problems. Recently, Roberts explored the future of technology and governance in his featured discussion, Claude, War, and the State of the Republic. By shifting from technical supply-and-demand metrics toward a humanistic exploration of flourishing, he provides a platform for thinkers like Nassim Nicholas Taleb and Steven Pinker to examine the moral sentiments and rituals that underpin modern civilization and individual character development.
