The University of New Mexico (UNM) is the state's flagship public research university, established in 1889 and located in Albuquerque. It is the largest institution of higher education in New Mexico and serves as a significant cultural and economic center for the region. The campus covers nearly 800 acres and features Pueblo Revival architecture, reflecting local Native American heritage, along with a recognized arboretum and botanical spaces.

UNM offers over 215 degree and certificate options across 12 colleges and schools, including programs in management, arts and sciences, education, fine arts, nursing, pharmacy, and more. The university is dedicated to Native American education, highlighted by the Kiva Club, the oldest Native American student organization on campus.
