United Nations

The United Nations (UN) is a global intergovernmental organization founded in 1945 to promote international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, and uphold human rights. Established by 51 countries after World War II, the UN aims to prevent future conflicts and provide a platform for international cooperation. Its headquarters is located in New York City.

The UN consists of six principal organs, including the General Assembly, Security Council, and International Court of Justice.
