Stan James is a British bookmaker founded in 1973 in Wantage, Oxfordshire, by Steve Fisher and James Holder. The company name combines parts of the founders' names. Initially focused on traditional betting shops, Stan James was an early innovator, launching a telephone staking service and establishing an online betting platform in 1997.

Over the years, Stan James expanded its services to include a wide range of sports betting markets, in-play betting, and a network of over 90 physical betting shops in the UK. The company targeted a diverse customer base, primarily UK punters, while also serving sports and casino customers from over 120 countries. In 2015, Stan James's online gambling business was acquired by Unibet Group plc, and by 2018, the Stan James website was closed, with accounts transferred to Kindred Group. Despite this, Stan James remains a notable name in the history of UK bookmaking for its early adoption of technology and significant contributions to the industry.
