Trocaire

Trócaire is an Irish overseas development agency established in 1973 by the Irish Catholic Bishops. Its mission is to express compassion for the world's poorest and most oppressed people. The name "Trócaire," meaning "compassion" in Irish, reflects its commitment to providing life-changing support to vulnerable communities globally. As the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Trócaire is a member of the Caritas Internationalis federation and envisions a just and peaceful world.

The organization offers humanitarian aid and emergency relief in conflict zones and disaster-affected areas, providing essential support such as food, shelter, and medical aid. Trócaire partners with local organizations in 23 countries to implement sustainable development projects focused on poverty alleviation, climate change adaptation, gender equality, and human rights advocacy. Additionally, it engages in advocacy and awareness efforts to educate the Irish public about global poverty and injustice, while supporting peace and justice initiatives in post-conflict regions.
