Overview
The Travis Mills Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting post-9/11 recalibrated veterans and their families who have experienced life-altering injuries. Founded by Staff Sgt. Travis Mills, a quadruple amputee, the foundation provides an all-expenses-paid, barrier-free retreat in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. This serene environment allows veterans and their families to relax and engage in adaptive activities tailored to their needs.
The foundation offers seven unique, free programs designed to address the physical and emotional challenges faced by recalibrated veterans. These programs aim to strengthen family bonds and foster resilience throughout the rehabilitation journey. Since its inception in 2017, the foundation has supported over a thousand veterans from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Canada. Operating nearly year-round, it provides retreats and specialized programs for 42 weeks annually, including initiatives focused on post-traumatic stress. The foundation also encourages community involvement through volunteer and donation opportunities.
