Surf Rider Foundation

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization founded in 1984 by surfers in Malibu, California. It is dedicated to protecting and enjoying the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches. With over 200 chapters and student clubs across the United States, the Foundation has built a strong network of more than one million volunteers and activists. It has achieved over 900 victories since 2006 through local and national campaigns focused on coastal environmental protection.

The Foundation's mission includes key areas such as plastic reduction, ocean protection, beach access, climate action, and clean water. It engages communities through grassroots activism, education, and mobilization. Notable initiatives include beach cleanups that have removed significant amounts of trash and a Climate Action Program that involves volunteers in restoration projects. The Surfrider Foundation empowers coastal communities and environmental advocates, ensuring access to clean and healthy ocean environments for all.
