Second Amendment Foundation

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is a nonprofit organization based in Bellevue, Washington, founded in 1974 by Alan Gottlieb. Its mission is to defend, secure, and restore the individual right to keep and bear arms as outlined in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. SAF engages in legal advocacy, public education, and scholarly efforts to promote armed self-defense and personal liberty.

SAF has participated in over 260 legal actions to challenge unconstitutional gun control laws and expand Second Amendment protections. The organization has been involved in significant Supreme Court cases that have influenced gun rights jurisprudence. SAF also hosts annual conferences, such as the Legal Scholars Conference and the Gun Rights Policy Conference, which bring together legal experts and activists to discuss strategies for advancing gun rights.

In addition to its legal work, SAF produces various publications, including *The Gun Mag*, *Women & Guns*, and newsletters like *The Gottlieb-Tartaro Report*. The organization supports projects like Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership, which promotes safe firearm use.
