Samford's Center for Worship and the Arts

Samford University is a private Christian university located in Birmingham, Alabama. It is the largest private university in the state and the only private doctoral and research university. Founded in 1841 as Howard College, it moved to Birmingham in 1887 and was renamed Samford University in 1965. The university is governed by an independent board of trustees and emphasizes a mission rooted in faith, intellect, virtue, and benevolence.
