Overview

Practising Law Institute (PLI) is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1933. It specializes in continuing legal education (CLE) and professional development for lawyers and legal professionals globally. PLI was established to provide practical legal training beyond traditional law school education and has become a leading provider of CLE courses, legal publications, and multimedia resources.

PLI offers a variety of services, including live and on-demand CLE programs across more than 33 legal practice areas, webcasts, podcasts, and video series. It publishes authoritative legal treatises, periodicals, and course handbooks through PLI Press. The organization is committed to access to justice, providing over 2,700 scholarships annually and a Pro Bono Privileged Membership program for qualifying individuals and organizations. PLI is recognized for its high-caliber faculty, which includes notable legal experts, and is an approved CLE provider in multiple jurisdictions. Under the leadership of President Sharon L. Crane since 2021, PLI continues to innovate in legal education and pro bono service.
