Operation Food Search

Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization established in 1981, focused on reducing food insecurity and ending childhood hunger in the St. Louis bi-state region, which includes 25 counties in Missouri and Illinois. The organization distributes around $30 million worth of food and necessities each year through a network of 330 community partners, serving approximately 200,000 individuals monthly, including many children.

OFS provides various services such as emergency food distribution, Operation Backpack for weekend meals for children, afterschool meals, and summer meal programs. In addition to food distribution, OFS emphasizes nutrition education, teaching families how to prepare healthy meals on a budget, and advocating for policy changes. They also offer mentorship and cooking demonstrations to promote proper meal planning in schools and community organizations. With a commitment to inclusivity, OFS serves a diverse population and operates a 24/7 Hunger Hotline to connect individuals with local food assistance. The organization relies on donations and volunteers to support its mission.
