Last Prisoner Project

The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to cannabis criminal justice reform. Founded in 2019, its mission is to end cannabis criminalization in the U.S. and address the harms caused by these laws, particularly for those incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses.

LPP focuses on three main initiatives: advocating for the release of incarcerated cannabis prisoners, advancing programs to clear cannabis-related criminal records, and providing reentry support for formerly incarcerated individuals. The organization also engages in legal intervention, public education, and legislative advocacy to combat the injustices of cannabis criminalization, especially in communities of color.

LPP has made a significant impact by saving over 400 years of unjust prison time, clearing more than 250,000 cannabis offenses, and distributing $3.7 million to those affected by criminalization. The organization collaborates with legal groups, policymakers, and cannabis industry stakeholders to promote restorative justice and support those harmed by outdated drug laws.
