Honolulu Museum of Art

The Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) is the largest art museum in Hawai‘i, founded in 1922 and opened to the public in 1927. It aims to provide art and art education to the diverse, multicultural community of Hawai‘i. HoMA's collection features over 55,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years, including significant Asian and Pan-Pacific art. The museum showcases pieces by renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Georgia O’Keeffe, alongside traditional and contemporary works from Hawai‘i and the Pacific.

The museum complex includes exhibition spaces for permanent and temporary collections, educational programs through the Honolulu Museum of Art School, and the Doris Duke Theatre for independent and international films. It also houses the Robert Allerton Art Library, which supports research and public education. HoMA offers various visitor amenities, including cafés and a museum shop. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday and provides free admission for youth and local residents on designated days, making it a vital cultural hub for both locals and tourists.
