George Washington's Mount Vernon

George Washington's Mount Vernon is a historic estate and museum dedicated to preserving the home and legacy of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, it is the oldest national historic preservation organization in the U.S. The estate, originally known as Little Hunting Creek Plantation, spans approximately 500 acres along the Potomac River and attracts about one million visitors annually.

The site features the tomb of George and Martha Washington, an 18th-century Continental Army encampment, and a four-acre farm site showcasing Washington’s farming practices. The estate also includes the Ford Orientation Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center, which houses a variety of historical artifacts.
