Feeding America

Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States, committed to ensuring that no one experiences hunger. Founded in 1979 and renamed in 2008, it operates through a network of over 200 food banks, 21 statewide food bank associations, and more than 60,000 partner agencies, including food pantries and meal programs.

The organization’s mission is to feed America’s hungry and engage the nation in the fight against hunger. In 2020, Feeding America provided 6.1 billion meals, significantly increasing its efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Key services include food distribution, partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for federal nutrition programs, and advocacy for legislation to protect vulnerable populations. Feeding America serves approximately 40 million people annually, including children, seniors, and families in need, while also addressing the systemic issues contributing to food insecurity.
