Equity Bank

Equity Bank is a prominent financial services provider in Kenya, originally established as Equity Building Society in 1984. It began by focusing on mortgage financing for low-income populations and rural banking, particularly in agribusiness. In 2004, it became a fully-fledged commercial bank and rebranded as Equity Bank Limited, later listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange in 2006.

The bank offers a variety of retail and commercial banking services, including savings and current accounts, loans, mortgages, and business financing for individuals, SMEs, and corporate clients. Equity Bank also introduced agency banking to enhance accessibility in underserved areas and launched Equitel, a mobile network service that integrates banking, promoting digital financial inclusion. The Equity Group Foundation leads the bank's philanthropic efforts, emphasizing community development. With a focus on regional expansion, Equity Bank has grown its customer base significantly and operates as a Pan-African banking group, serving over 9.2 million customers.
