Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) is the national organization focused on utility damage prevention across Australia. Established on July 1, 2022, BYDA was formed by merging six state and territory Dial Before You Dig entities to enhance operational efficiency and user experience. The organization aims for zero damage, zero harm, and zero disruption during excavation activities.

BYDA offers a free pre-excavation referral service through an online portal and mobile apps. This service allows users, including contractors, builders, and homeowners, to request information about the location of underground infrastructure such as gas pipelines and electrical conduits before starting any digging work. BYDA also promotes safe excavation practices and educates the public on the importance of damage prevention. Its digital tools streamline the referral process, making it easier for users to access detailed underground asset maps and plans.

BYDA serves a wide range of stakeholders, including construction companies, utility asset owners, and government bodies, all committed to promoting safety and protecting infrastructure.
