American Thoracic Society

The American Thoracic Society (ATS) is a prominent global medical society focused on advancing respiratory health. Established in 1905, it has grown to include over 30,000 members, including clinicians, researchers, and public health professionals dedicated to addressing respiratory diseases, sleep disorders, and critical illness. The ATS aims to accelerate innovation in respiratory health through collaboration, education, and advocacy.

The Society engages in various core activities, including leading research in respiratory science and publishing four peer-reviewed journals, such as the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. It develops clinical practice guidelines to enhance patient care and advocates for respiratory health on a global scale, addressing environmental and occupational factors. Additionally, ATS provides educational resources and hosts an annual International Conference to support professional development and networking among its members.
