Dollar Shave Club is an American company founded in 2011 by Mark Levine and Michael Dubin, based in Venice, California. It operates as a direct-to-consumer subscription service that delivers razors and personal grooming products by mail. The company aims to provide affordable and convenient access to quality shaving supplies, eliminating the traditional retail markup.

The core service includes a monthly subscription that sends razor blades and handles directly to customers. Over time, Dollar Shave Club expanded its offerings to include a variety of men’s grooming products, such as shaving creams and skincare items, creating a comprehensive grooming solution. The company gained significant market share by disrupting the traditional razor market, capturing nearly half of the online market within three years of its launch.

Dollar Shave Club gained attention through a viral marketing video in 2012 and was acquired by Unilever in 2016 for approximately $1 billion. In 2023, Unilever sold most of its stake in the company to Nexus Capital Management while retaining a 35% ownership share.
